It’s a great product and very reasonable price. Makes the best dried bananas EVER! While it was working, it was great. The temperature settings are the best feature by far, but, I used this just under a month and was so pleased with everything I had dehydrated to that point. I would have liked to see a few more recipes in the book but I can find them online if need be. All in all-we really like it!

I use this dehydrator mainly to make dried chicken and beef strips for my dog and dogs I board on occasion. I also make salmon strips for them.

There is no on/off switch but to me it is not a big deal, just unplug it. We were very pleased with our results also. The fruit roll sheets and clean screen trays were extremely helpful and I have already ordered more. I would not recommend drying fruit without the extra screens as they do get sticky and hard to peel off of the regular trays. And that definitely causes the drying times to be unpredictable as well. Actually, it’s not *that* noisy, but after twelve hours, you might feel differently. So far I have been very pleased with it. As other reviewers have mentioned, there is no timer or on/off switch – you just plug it in and it turns on. It’s a smart design to place the fan on top lid as the juice came out from meat or fruit won’t make the fan dirty. The drying racks are dishwasher safe and fit into our dishwasher quite easily for easy cleaning. I made a batch of jerky out of lean hamburger and it turned out great! Now everyone at work is asking to give me money to make them some.

Another thing we learned, use your shopping skills and buy another one rather than trying to buy extra trays. You can get all the trays and the fun stuff, plus a new blower head for less than adding the trays.

I highly recommend it for the money. I would suggest getting extra trays right from the beginning. After investing $40 in the Ronco dehydrator, I must say that the Nesco beats Ronco hands down. Very little tray rotation is required. I would recommend this as a great starter system. I purchased this dehydrator about a month ago and have used it twice.

For the cost of one-way shipping, NESCO replaced the defective item. We are happy that NESCO stood behind its product.
